Brief History

The Patronage of Mary Development School (PMDS) of Boljoon, Cebu, is an institution of learning dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was founded on January 8, 2009 by Dr. Rouel A. Longinos. His love for teaching and commitment to provide quality basic education prompted him to build a school. His dream of building a school for the children in Southeastern Cebu was realized through the shared vision of the various stakeholders.

This effort was guided, blessed and supported by the local government officials, church leaders and community people.

With an enrolment of 55 in 2009, 75 in 2010, the current enrolment of more than six hundred students are housed in the three buildings with fully air-conditioned classrooms namely: St. Rita Building (Admin, Library and Laboratories; St. Joseph Building (High School Department); and Sto. Niño Building (Elementary Department). Parents play a significant role in the formation of their children at PMDS. The parents under the leadership of the Parents-Teachers Association Officers spearhead monthly activities as reinforcement of the students’ learning in the classroom.

As an educational institution of learning, PMDS strives to instill the Christ-centered values, which are developed through intellectual, spiritual and social activities.

PMDS observes feast days of saints and martyrs and holy days while first Friday masses are celebrated in the school chapel. It upholds partnership among the parents, teachers and the people in the community to ensure a meaningful and productive teaching-learning in school.

PMDS was granted recognition by the government through the Department of Education on 2012 No. 0214 for the Pre-Elementary Education Course; No. 0215, Series 2012 for the Elementary Education Course; and No. 062, Series 2014 for the Secondary Education Course. The Private Education (PEAC) certified PMDS as school provider of the Education Service Contracting in the Junior High School starting June 2015.
