January 7, 2024 by:
On January 6, 2024, the Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students of Patronage of Mary Development School in Boljoon, Cebu, had the opportunity to go on an educational tour exploring museums in Cebu City. Leading the group was the school principal, Dr. Rouel A. Longinos, while teachers John Rey Ampoon and Alven Jake Manubag also joined the activity. The selected museums for their visit were the Santo Niño Museum at the historic Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, the National Museum of the Philippines in Cebu, the Archdiocesan Museum of Cebu, and the Casa Gorordo. These destinations aimed to provide the students with a deeper understanding of their history, culture, and the growth of the Christian faith in Cebu.
According to Dr. Longinos, museums play a crucial role in enriching students’ learning across different disciplines. They offer a unique and immersive environment that enables educators to teach a wide range of topics while allowing students to gain valuable experiences in a new setting.
